1.3. Backdrop to the exercise
• SGGKK is a political intervention for the Madiga community in Korategere Taluk. The intervention is an effort to address ‘structural alienation and ‘internal discrimination’ in the duel sub caste structure of Malas and Madiga. The two sub sections of Dalits have different status their social, economic, political and cultural profiles. According to SGGKK, the profile of Malas is disproportionately higher than that of Madiga. This has the consequence of the present provision of reservation, which is uncategorized between the two sub sections, is to the advantage of Malas and disadvantage of Madiga.

• The EveryChild supported project implemented by SGGKK in Korategere Taluk, Karnataka has the goal of: ‘ Mainstreaming development for members of Madiga community in Korategere Taluk through the strategy of mainstreaming education for children , as means for achieving equity advantage for the Madiga in the reservation provision’

• SGGKK has implemented the three year project (2006-2009) of EveryChild on agreement that this will be the consolidation phase of inventions in Koratekere taluk. The consolidation is to ‘wrap up’ the input – out achieved through EveryChild partnership over the years and develop the blue print for the first post project phase of 2009- 2012
