CHILD RIGHTS TRUST
Child Rights Trust (CRT) is a registered trust that operates from Bangalore, Karnataka. The organisation has been working actively for child rights advocacy with the mission to protect and promote all the inherent and indivisible rights of all children. CRT’s activities extend all over India with a special focus on Southern India, particularly Karnataka. In undertaking this mandate CRT focuses on key issues pertaining to child rights at Gram Panchayat level by sensitising the Gram Panchayat members and providers of services to children-Anganawadi workers, ANMs, school staff, etc., to recognise the inherent rights of children and take meaningful actions to enhance them. CRT has been working with legislators and government agencies by influencing them to include child rights related issues in election manifestos. As a follow up to monitor their performance with respect to children CRT has taken up a detailed analysis of the Question Hour and debate analysis at the Vidhana Sabha (State Legislative Assembly) and Vidhan Parishad (State Legislative Council) for children’s issues. CRT has also taken up analysis of the state budget with child rights perspective. CRT has a distinguished experience of working with Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) in developing Karnataka State Plan of Action for Children - 2003-10 and Karnataka State Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking of Women and Children. CRT is headed by Mr. Vasudev Sharma who has ample experience in the field of development and in particular working in the field of child rights. He has been working on child rights issues for the past two decades. He is also a member of the Child Welfare Committee in Bangalore, Karnataka.

EveryChild India and CRT: Working together
EveryChild India has been supporting CRT to promote the concept of child friendly governance systems though its project focussing on strengthening and promoting child friendly governance systems to prevent child separation. EveryChild India and CRT are also in the process of implementing an innovative Child Tracking Project which facilitates setting up a Child tracking system recording the ‘status and movement’ of each child in a village and thereby preventing children from losing parental care. At present, the organisation is working closely with the Government of Karnataka and other groups to implement effective child friendly systems at the village level through the Gram Panchayats. The idea of a child friendly governance system was taken up in accordance with the Government circular in 2007 which stated that conducting child rights special Grama Sabha was compulsory for all Grama Panchayats. Other State Governments have also appreciated this move by the Government of Karnataka and have been consulting CRT for replicating the same in their states.
